Royals to attend Remembrance ceremony in Berlin
On 15 November, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall will visit Germany to attend the Central Remembrance Ceremony in Berlin to commemorate the annual National Day of Mourning. The royal couple will also attend the wreath-laying ceremony at the Neue Wache Memorial.
New UK ambassador to Germany
This week, Jill Gallard took up her post as the new British ambassador to Germany. In an introduction on Twitter, she laid out her plans to further strengthen ties between the UK and Germany, particularly on matters of economic prosperity and people’s standards of living. Ms Gallard succeeds Sir Sebastian Wood, who had served in the role since 2015.
Think German Network (TGN) initiative
The Think German Network is an outreach initiative run by the German government to promote the German language and the culture of German-speaking countries. It connects academic institutions, schools, cultural organisations and businesses, and hosts educational, cultural and professional events. Currently, there are eleven individual TGNs operating across the UK.
