Politics

Environment Minister Leonore Gewessler (Grüne) is planning to abolish short-haul domestic flights, such as the connection Vienna-Graz. The proposal has been heavily criticised by the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), which has called the plan an ‘anti-business fantasy’.

The governor of Burgenland Hans Peter Doskozil will withdraw from the Social Democratic Party (SPÖ) at federal level due to what he perceives as the group’s ‘insistence on restrictive measures in the Corona crisis’.

Culture

Following the re-opening of museums next Monday, Vienna’s Albertina will host an exhibition on Austrian artist Xenia Hausner, famous for her large-sized, figurative paintings and tableau vivants. You can see a selection of her works here.
