The German Embassy in London and the British Embassy in Berlin have launched a podcast series titled ‘Staying Connected’, featuring wide-ranging discussions and exchanges about the future of relations between Germany and the United Kingdom.

On 4 May, the German Historical Institute London will host a roundtable discussion on ‘Confronting histories of violence and populism’. Specifically, the panel will tackle two intriguing questions: What can be learned from “the Germans”? And what have "the Germans" yet to learn? English language. Registration required.


Cultural relations


Queen Mary University of London’s Centre for Anglo-German Cultural Relations has published two new lectures on ‘Writing about Germany as an Anglo-German "foreign" correspondent’ and ‘Anglo-German Cultural Relations in the Age of Brexit and Corona’.


Food


Fast-casual restaurant brand German Doner Kebab is continuing its rapid expansion with plans to open 47 new restaurants in the UK this year. The move will almost double the brand’s number of venues, with new restaurants planned for locations including Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, and London.
