Ian McGregor’s new book, entitled “Checkpoint Charlie: The Cold War, the Berlin Wall and the Most Dangerous Place on Earth” is released next week. The Guardian reviewed it here. Jojo Rabbit is a World War II satire that follows a lonely German boy whose world view is turned upside down when he discovers his single mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young Jewish girl in their attic. Check out the trailer here. Check out the ‘Popcast’ playlist on Spotify. Put together by the Goethe Institut und Zündfunk, there are over 350 new German pop songs on there. Those of you in Halifax, Yorkshire may be interested in viewing Walter Ruttmann’s Berlin: Die Sinfonie der Großstadt accompanied by a live orchestra. Tickets are available here. Although it came out about a month ago, it’s worth mentioning the trailer for the third series of Babylon Berlin.
