Oliver Moody writes in The Times that ‘Germans are astonishingly well informed about British politics’. According to Klaus Stolz, an expert on British and American culture at Chemnitz Technical University, “British democracy is increasingly seen in Germany as anachronistic and inefficient. Sometimes it is derided.” Austrian author Raphaela Edelbauer's novel 'Das flüssige Land' has been shortlisted for the 'Deutscher Buchpreis 2019'. This mixture of gothic and dystopian fiction is her debut novel.
